SOUTHERN METHODIST UNIVERSITY

THE SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING
AND APPLIED SCIENCE

The SMU School of Engineering and Applied Science offers a series of graduate courses over the Green Education and Information Network (formerly TAGER) allowing students to pursue the M.S. degree in the following engineering fields:     (click link below for course listings)

  • Computer Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Engineering Management
  • Operations Research
  • Hazardous & Waste Materials Management
  • Manufacturing Systems Management
  • Systems Engineering
  • Software Engineering
  • Telecommunications
  • Mathematics

Within each of these fields students may follow different degree plans by taking a sequence of courses in a concentration area which must be developed with their faculty advisors after being admitted to the Graduate Division.  The requirement for a master's degree is generally 30 semester credit hours of course work.  Of this total, six semester credit hours may be transferred from other institutions, subject to prior approval of the advisor, department chair and assistant dean.

Students desiring to audit (visit) a class via the Green Network, whether or not concurrently enrolled for course work, are required to process an Audit Enrollment Request form.  The following regulations are applicable:

    1.  Classroom participation is restricted; no grade is assigned and no credit is recorded; no laboratory privileges are included.

    2.  If credit is desired, the course must be registered for and repeated as a regular course, and regular tuition must be paid.

    3.  The student's name does not appear on class rosters or grade sheets.

    4.  Regular admission and registration procedures are not conducted for auditors.

    5.  The audit fee is nonrefundable.
