The Alliance for Higher Education charted new territories in educational delivery before distance education was a familiar term in this country.  The Alliance began as the TAGER Television Network delivering education from area colleges and universities directly into the workplace.  Envisioned and created by Cecil Green, noted educational philanthropist and co-founder of Texas Instruments, TAGER has delivered college education and other training opportunities to thousands of working adults.

Although its programs and services have expanded,  the mission of the Alliance has endured.  As a voluntary, not-for-profit (501.c.3), non-governmental organization, the Alliance links its members in education, business and public service to better achieve common goals in education, training, electronic networking, information management and higher education advocacy.

1965   The Association for GraduateEducation and Research (TAGER) is founded.

1982 TAGER changes name to The Association for Higher Educationof North Texas (AHE) as services expand.

1967 TAGER becomes operational as a one-way video, two-way audio, interactive television network

1992 AHE changes name to Alliance  for Higher Education.

1998 Alliance launches the Green Education and Information Network  (Green Network) with 21st century technologies.
