ABOUT THE ALLIANCE FOR HIGHER EDUCATION CREATING DYNAMIC PARTNERSHIPS In an era of rapid change and global
competition, the effectiveness and accessibility of higher education are crucial. Now more than ever, higher education must be able to respond quickly to new demands and new opportunities. The success of business,
industry, government and our economy depends upon higher education to produce both visionary leaders and an educated work force capable of managing and utilizing massive amounts of information and technical knowledge.
Forging a critical link between the academic and corporate communities of this region, the Alliance for Higher Education, based in North Texas, creates dynamic and beneficial partnerships
between these important sectors of our society. With this strategic mission in mind, the Alliance identifies and develops activities to promote cooperation and support among the region's
universities and colleges while opening communication channels and developing cooperative activities between the academic and corporate communities. These goals are accomplished through three distinct Alliance
service areas:
- Academic Affairs
- Virtual Learning Services
- Regional Higher Education Advocacy
EDUCATION DELIVERY SERVICES
Bringing higher education and training to business, industry and government is a key function of the Alliance for Higher Education. By interfacing with higher education and industry, the Alliance is strategically
positioned to:
1. Identify and synthesize business needs. 2. Match demands to resources available through the higher education and training communities. 3. Deliver credit and noncredit education and
training, live, via interactive television or videotaped formats.

NONCREDIT CLASSROOM PROGRAMS
Your company can access an independent, single source for virtually all external training needs. Serving as an administrative and marketing contact for member companies and opening
non-proprietary training to other companies, arranging off-site training on a contract basis or bringing in expert sources from Alliance member institutions, the Alliance can provide turnkey solutions for a variety of
training needs. Whether you need live, hands-on classroom instruction, credit courses, noncredit courses or videotaped formats, we bring technical and professional development classes directly
to your company via the Green Network or through classroom-based courses. Contact:
Susan Hackett at susanh@allianceedu.org or at (972) 713-8170.
METROPLEX TRAINING CONSORTIUM Ensuring that network programming and classroom courses are attuned to the needs of our
clients requires frequent interaction with the corporate community. To facilitate this process, the Alliance supports and works closely with human resource and training personnel comprising the Metroplex Training
Consortium (MTC). MTC meets bi-monthly to share information and provide guidance to the Alliance on the types of services needed. MTC members may participate in special interest groups in areas such as
alternative training delivery systems, basic skills, benchmarking, evaluation and shared training. These and other special interest groups meet to share common concerns and tour member company sites.
For more information about MTC, contact Carlene
Morrow at carlenem@allianceedu.org or at (972) 713-8170. |
