The Dallas Convention &
Visitors Bureau (DCVB) has joined the Alliance for
Higher Education, according to Jorge Herrera, Senior
Vice President in the tourism division of the Bureau.
"This is a fabulous
opportunity for international communication and
education. Our membership in the Alliance provides a
new and unique opportunity for Dallas to play a lead
role in the delivery of distance learning programs.
The international market for the use of this kind of
technology to communicate globally is exciting,"
says Herrera.
Herrera adds, "The Alliance is
an international ‘one-of-a-kind’ organization that
gives Dallas a prime opportunity to be a worldwide
education center. This is important to the image of
the City and its global position."
The DCVB and the Alliance will be
working out the details of specific activities early
this year. At that time, the Alliance will be located
in new facilities designed to house classrooms and
distance learning equipment for delivery of corporate
and educational programming and research. Recent
technological investments have afforded the Alliance
with a substantial increase in internetworking
capabilities.
Membership in the Alliance for
Higher Education provides the DCVB with access to
benefits such as benchmarking with leading
corporations and universities for research and
training; delivery of course content on the Internet
with live videos and storage or archiving capabilities
for later use; video teleconferencing and imaging
teleportation; outsourced instructor services; other
telecommunication activities; and advertising in
Alliance publications, including the website.
